Rabbit BrushesRabbit brushes aren't just a way to keep your rabbit neat and stylish. They are actually an essential tool for maintaining your rabbit's long term health. Like cats, rabbits lick themselves as part of their cleaning behavior, which causes them to swallow loose hair. Unlike cats, rabbits are not able to vomit up hairballs. This means that hairballs have to pass out with the rabbit's waste, and if the ball is too big, it will obstruct the stomach and cause the rabbit to starve to death. This means that removing excess hair before your rabbit does is potentially a matter of life and death. Rabbits should normally be brushed weekly. At first, this will probably be an uncomfortable experience for it, especially if it not accustomed to being handled. Over time, the rabbit will come to enjoy the experience, so long as the owner is using the proper tool. Rabbit brushes are designed to accommodate the extremely sensitive, delicate skin of the rabbit. Stiff-bristled brushes designed for other types of pets will cause irritation and stress, and risk breaking the skin, all of which can be disastrous for rabbits. Every three months or so, rabbits will shed heavily as they molt their coats. At these times, brushing becomes even more important. If you have not been using your rabbit brushes on a regular basis, this can become an unpleasant task that cannot be skipped. Long haired breeds in particular will require a lot of grooming. For heavy shedding, wire slicker brushes are ideal. Shorter haired breeds will be better off with rabbit brushes that have bristles. Regularly brushing your rabbit will prevent dangerous hairball formation, promote bonding between rabbit and owner, and keep your rabbit from shedding on furniture or carpeting. Rabbit brushes are the essential tool for this important task. Accept no substitutes, and enjoy our selection of fine rabbit brushes.
